the ONLY romance books i recommend
Romance is never my go-to genre, but every now and then it scratches an itch. Even though I'm picky, here are some that have passed my test.
Talking at Night by Claire Daverley
This is probably one of my most recommended books. It's an emotional gut punch, and any book that can wear me down and make me shed a tear is a winner in my eyes. This follows Will and Rosie, who become friends as teenagers, but an unexpected tragedy tears them apart. We follow their journey into adulthood as they weave in and out of each other's lives and fight their own demons. I will never stop singing this book's praises, and I'm very excited for Daverly's upcoming novel later this year!
Bad Words by Riognach Robinson
Bad Words doesn't come out until later this year, but is already one of my most raved about books and a favorite read of mine. after a public feud between Parker, a novelist, and Selina, a critic, goes viral the two "enemies" start a correspondence that turns into a beautiful and unexpected love story. I loved these characters, they felt so real and grounded. Watching their relationship develop on the page was extremely special.
Passion Project by London Sperry
I wasn't expecting to like this book so much, since I don't often lean towards more "formulaic" romance books. But this really took me by surprise! Bennet has lost her z zest for life after the loss of her ex-boyfriend. After an akward encounter with her blind date, the two team up to help her get her spark back. What starts as a friendship, turns into a very wholesome romance. Henry is probably one of my favorite MMCs, and I loved how accountable the two held each other throughout the book. This was such a fun time!
Happy Place by Emily Henry
Em Hen is the queen for a reason! I love all of her books, but Happy Place holds a special place in my heart. I'm a sucker for a second-chance romance, and I'm a bigger sucker for books that potray adult friendships so accurately. This book had me sobbing through the last 25% of it, which I personally, always love to experience lol.
